Designing interactive narrative systems

is object- orientation useful?

مقال من تأليف: Skov, Mikael B. ; Stage, Jan ;

ملخص: New technologies challenge our methods for system analysis and design. This article reports from an experimental evaluation of a typical object- oriented modeling method that was used to design an interactive narrative system that simulates a certain real world environment in order to train and assess the decision- making capabilities of persons operating in that speci .c setting. Based on this empirical study, we emphasize strengths and weaknesses of the object- oriented method. To complement this evaluation, the article also reports from a related empirical study of a process where general knowledge about storytelling and .lmmaking was used as the methodological basis for designing a comparable system. From this second study, we elicit ideas for increasing the extent to which the object- oriented modeling method can support the design of a training and assessment system.
